Herbolzheim is a city in Breisgau, it is located about 30 km north of Freiburg in the district of Emmendingen.

Herbolzheim was first mentioned in a document in 1108. In 1451 the place came under Habsburg rule, which granted it market rights in 1589. From 1805 Herbolzheim belonged to the Grand Duchy of Baden, and in 1810 the place received town charter. In the course of a community reform around 1975, the formerly independent communities Bleichheim, Broggingen, Tutschfelden and Wagenstadt were incorporated and are districts of Herbolzheim.

The southern neighboring communities Kenzingen and Rheinhausen belong to the district of Emmendingen, Ringsheim and Ettenheim its northern neighbors are in the Ortenau district.
