background

The Heuchelberg is the northern part of the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park. Its rock consists of Keuper or Reed sandstone, but it does not reach the height of the Stromberg. The highest elevations of the Heuchelberg are the Heidelberg at Brackenheim with 336 m height, to the west of it is the Ottilienberg Eppingen with a height of 314 m. The back of the Heuchelberg is relatively flat and poorly structured, like the north side it is mostly wooded. The steeply sloping edges of the southern flank are due to the mild climate well suited for viticulture, practically all villages on this side belong to both Württemberg Wine Route as well as for Kraichgau-Stromberg wine route. Instead, on the north side, reed sandstone is mined and processed in the Eppinger districts of Mühlbach and Kleingartach.
