Brackenheim is a city in Zabergäu in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
background
The town of Brackenheim is located in the south of the Heilbronn district. It was first mentioned in documents in 1246 and was designated as a city as early as 1280.
In the years 1971–1974, the formerly independent communities of Botenheim, Dürrenzimmern, Haberschlacht, Meimsheim, Neipperg, Stockheim and Hausen an der Zaber were incorporated, so Brackenheim now has 8 districts, some of which have grown together.
The neighboring communities Cleebronn, Güglingen, Eppingen, Schwaigern, Nordheim and Lauffen on the Neckar lie in Heilbronn district, belong to the district of Ludwigsburg Bönnigheim and Kirchheim am Neckar.
Today Brackenheim is the largest wine-growing community in Württemberg and the largest red wine community in Germany, not least because of its districts.
