Istebna is a mountain town in the polishSilesian Voivodeship in the Silesian Beskids. Its location at the foot of the Złoty Groń makes it an important center of tourism in the Beskydy Mountains. The place offers opportunities for winter sports and is the starting point for hikes in the southern parts of the Silesian Beskids.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1577. Tourism began to develop in the early 19th century. The place has also been a winter sports resort since the 20th century.
