The peninsula is, according to Hakone, the most important local recreation region for short trips from the capital, which is around 120 kilometers away. Large parts of the coastal strip belong to the Fuji Hakone Izu National Park. Inland, the area is mountainous with the higher mountains Amagi-san (天 城 山). Its individual peaks are called: Bansaburōdake (万 三郎 岳, 1406 m), Banjirōdake (万 二郎 岳, 1300 m and Tōgasayama (遠 笠 山, 1197 m) as well as Atami (773 m) in the eastern and Mt.Daruma (982 m) in the western part .
The west coast, which is not accessible by rail, is significantly quieter than the east coast.

The bus stops are to the left of the station exit.
Mishima (三島 市) has little of interest to offer compared to the rest of the peninsula, it serves more as a transfer station. The park near the south exit of the train station is nice 2 Rakuju-en (楽 寿 園) Including an artificial lake as well as a local museum and the Asama shrine.
Izunokuni (伊豆 の 国 市) is a community formed in 2005 from the towns of Nirayama (韮 山 町), Izu-Nagaoka and Ōhito (大仁 町), with around 50,000 inhabitants, south of Mishima. In Numazu (沼 津市), a fairly ordinary port city eight kilometers from Mishima, there is little apart from the long, beautiful one Sembon-Beach (with park behind). If the weather is right, you also have a good view of Mount Fuji from there. Thanks to a large fire in 1926 and the American terror bombing in 1944, there is nothing historical to see. The specialty of the place is dried jackfish (Aji; 真 鯵).

The peninsula is well structured for tourism. Even smaller towns offer a selection of Ryōkan and Minshuku, the prices of which are slightly above the national average. Less than ¥ 10,000-15,000 p.p. should definitely not be included in traditional houses.
