The island of Kos is almost 50 km long and about eight kilometers wide from west to east. A mountain range runs along the south coast, the highest point of which is the Dikeos at 846 m.

The island was already settled in prehistoric times, later Doric settlers from Epidaurus came to Kos. The balance of power changed several times. Kos belonged to Persia and the Roman Empire. By bus

The island buses run regularly between the capital, the airport and the other places: Monday to Saturday seven times a day and Sunday three times a day in each direction. The fares are moderate and from Kos town to Marmari € 2.10 and from Kos town to Kefalos (across the whole island, longest route) € 4.80 (as of May 2017). With your own car it is difficult to get to Kos with expensive ferries. There is a wide range of small cars on the island, which are usually rented out with full insurance. A specialty of the island are squids, which are very tasty prepared in a stifado style. Locals like to eat in Platani at z. b.
