The Small island (Hungarian: Szigetköz, Slovak: Malý Žitný ostrov) is an island that is separated by the main Danube river in the north and the Wieselburger DonauarmMosoni Duna) is formed in the south. It is in the Hungarian county Győr-Moson-Sopron and extends from Rajka or Čunovo in the northwest to the confluence of the Raab and the Danube east of Győr.
Regions
The Kleine Schüttinsel is usually divided into two sub-areas:
- Upper Small Schüttinsel (Felső Szigetköz)
- Lower Small Schüttinsel (Alsó Szigetköz)
The border between the two not clearly defined areas runs roughly at the narrowest point between the villages of Ásványráró and Dunaszentpál
In literature, that island is sometimes also mentioned in the Slovakia the Small Schüttinsel, which is located between the old main Danube and the newly dug main Danube - the Gapčíkovo power plant reservoir. However, this is in Wikivoyage in the travel guide Big bulk island treated.
