The traces of the devastation of the Thirty Years' War were removed at the end of the 17th century, and the monastery was generously redesigned in the Baroque style.

The monastery business was stopped in 1803 after the secularization, the monastery came into the possession of the dynasty Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg and was used temporarily as a brewery. Monastery building

  • The Monastery church was built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style, received a Gothic roof with a (Romanesque) roof turret in 1425. The interior is partly in the Gothic style, partly in the Baroque style, the altars date from around 1700, the choir stalls (around 1780) were made in the Rococo.
  • The Cloister is built in the Gothic style. The Romanesque chapter house is on the east side, the fountain house on the south side and the calefactory opposite. This is followed by the refectory, today it is Amber Hallwhich, thanks to its modern technical equipment, serves as a stylish event space. On the upper floor of the south wing was once the dormitory, today the room is used for the exhibition of contemporary art.
  • The Dormitory is located on the upper floor, it is used for the exhibition of contemporary art.
  • The Amber Hall in the south wing accessible from the Kalefaktorium. In monastic times it was the refectory (dining room), today it forms a stylish setting for events with its baroque frescoes.
  • The Joseph Hall is probably the most magnificent room in the monastery. It is located in the south wing above the Bernhardssaal and is accessible from the staircase of the prelate building next to the monastery shop. It is often used for festive concerts. The abbots' rooms were once in the prelate building; some of them are used for special events and are not open to the public.

Gardens

  • In front of the prelate building is the abbey garden, the complex itself is worth seeing with the bowl fountain and the stone figures, but has probably not yet been completely renovated.
  • The hall garden on the south side, once a garden for festive occasions, serves as a beer garden in good weather. To the east of this is the former hospital (now a state archive), further in the courtyard is a large remise (with a toilet accessible to visitors)
  • The Orangery on the north side of the monastery was only built around 1775, it is decorated with a large fresco. In front of it is a herb garden that was laid out for the renovation, behind it the vineyard of the monastery begins.

Farm buildings

The monastery complex is divided by the L506 road. On the west side along the Tauber there are a number of partly stately farm buildings. It is noticeable Bursariat, once the seat of the monastery administration, today it is a guest house. Other buildings contained a carpenter's shop, there was a mill, a bakery and a brewery, and the monastery also had a large farm with a cattle shed and barn. Some of the buildings now serve completely different purposes; a former stable is used by a Fraunhofer Society, for example.
