It is situated on Wysoczyzna Kończycka, by the road Jastrzebie ZdrojCieszyn. The area of ​​the village council is 1194 ha, and the population is 3294, ie the population density is 275.9 people / km². The village is situated on the river Piotrówka (tributary of the Olza River), has a hilly terrain, numerous streams and breeding ponds and forest areas.

History

The town was first mentioned in a Latin document "Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis" (Book of salaries of the Wrocław bishopric), written during the times of Bishop Henry of Wierzbno (died 1319) around 1305 in a number of villages obliged to pay tithes to the bishopric in Wroclaw from 40 łans of land. Its creation is connected with the carried out at the end of the thirteenth century on the territory of the later Upper Silesia a great settlement action (the so-called land and rent action). The first settlers were newcomers from Germany. From nearby Konczyc Wielkie differed in that they were a princely village ("principia"). At that time, the village was politically located within the borders of the Duchy of Cieszyn established in 1290, which was a fief of the Kingdom of Bohemia from 1327, and from 1526, as a result of the accession of the Czech throne by the Habsburgs together with the region, until 1918 in the Habsburg monarchy (colloquially Austria).

According to the Austrian census of 1900, 1406 people lived in 226 buildings in Kończyce Małe in the area of ​​1194 ha, i.e. the population density was 117.8 people / km². Of these, 1,399 (99.5%) of the inhabitants were Catholics, 2 (0.1%) Evangelicals (Lutherans), and 5 (0.4%) Jews; 1,388 (98.7%) were Polish, 11 (0.8%) German and 1 (0.1%) Czech.

In 1919, fights took place in the village during Polish-Czechoslovak border conflicts (clashes with the Czech army), during which Capt. Cezary Haller (brother of the general Józef Haller).

Drive

The provincial road No. 937 connecting the cities of Cieszyn and Jastrzębie-Zdrój and the railway line No. 90 runs through the town. Zebrzydowice - Cieszyn, where it is located train station.

According National Heritage Institute, there are the following historic buildings in the village:

  • "Cieszyn Wawel" - that is Konczycki castle built by the Golasowski family in the 15th century in the Gothic style and later expanded in the Renaissance style in the 16th century by the Czelów family of the Kościesza coat of arms Czechowicewho bought it in 1538. Then the castle changed owners many times. In the years 1837-1945 the owners of the castle were the Folwarczny family. After the war damages of World War II, it was renovated in 1956-1957 and in 1993-1995. Two wings from the quadrilateral and an arcaded arcade from the side of the courtyard have survived.

The castle houses the Regional Chamber of Cieszyn Village (Social Regional Museum, 5 Staropolska Street, tel. 32 4693024, http://www.izbaregionalna.konczyce.pl) and the hotel and restaurant "Gościniec Zamkowy" (tel. 32 4758091, http://www.zamek.konczyce.pl, ul. Staropolska 5).

  • A monument of sacred architecture is church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (ul. Myśliwska 2) from the second half of the 18th century. The faithful make pilgrimages to this temple to entrust their affairs to Our Lady of Konczycka, whose graces the famous painting dates back to the 15th century and is placed in the main altar.
