Rybnik(German: Likewise Rybnik) is a historic city in the voivodeship Silesia at the Mange at the edge of Plesser heather on the Silesian plateau. The city is in the historical Upper Silesia and is especially known for the numerous fish ponds created by the Cistercians in the early High Middle Ages. The name of the city - Ryba is Polish for fish - goes back to the fish ponds.

By plane
The closest international Airport is located north of Katowice at the Autostrada A1. Other international airports are located at Wroclaw at the Autostrada A18 and Krakow at the Autostrada A4.
By train
The place has a train station that over Gliwice is attainable.
By bus
Intercity buses run regularly to Gliwice and long-distance buses to other cities in the region.
In the street
The road network is well developed.
The A4 runs from Germany and also from Poland Autostrada A4 means to the limit. Then you can take the autobahn at Gliwice switch and on the Autostrada A1 continue south. The city is located immediately to the east of the A1 and has its own exit.
Alternatively, from southern Germany and Switzerland you can use Prague drive.
From Austria you drive over Brno and then from the Polish-Czech border the Autostrada A1.
