La Punt Chamues-ch is a Swiss Community made up of two contiguous villages in Engadine, Grisons. In the district of La Punt the road branches off over the Albula Pass (2312 m), and a bridge (in Rhaeto-Romanic "punt") over the Inn connects La Punt with Chamues-ch.

Documents from 1137 prove the purchase of the village of La Punt by the Bishop of Chur. The hamlet of Chamues-ch is mentioned as "Campolovasco".
The plain between La Punt and Madulain was the scene of fighting between French and Austrian troops in 1799.
The Inn and the Chamuerabach have repeatedly flooded the municipality for centuries. It happened that the entire plain between Bever and La Punt was under water, the last time in 1960. Structural measures along the two bodies of water have since ensured that no major damage has occurred. Since then, the Inn has been largely canalised in this section, and the Chamuerabach has also been straightened in the Chamues-ch district.
The official languages in La Punt Chamues-ch are German and Romansh. The locals talk Putèr (Emphasis on the second syllable), the Upper Engadine variant of Romansh. The place name is pronounced something like "La Punt Tschamuésch-tsch" (
listen).

The international airport Zurich
(IATA: ZRH) is 200 km away, travel time by car about 3 hours, by train from Zurich airport about 3.5 hours.
The Samedan Airport(IATA: SMV) "EngadinAirport Samedan" is located 8 kilometers south of La Punt Chamues-ch, about 8 minutes by car.
By train
The train station is in the district of La Punt Rhaetian Railway. The trains usually run every hour in each direction. Travel time to St. Moritz just under 30 minutes, to Chur approx. 2 to 2.5 hours, to Zurich approx. 3 hours.
By bus
Lines 6 (towards Samedan and St. Moritz) and 7 (towards Zernez) from Engadin bus serve several stops in La Punt and Chamues-ch. Travel time to St. Moritz approx. 30 minutes.
In the street
La Punt is on the cantonal road through the Engadine. In summer it can also be reached from the west via the Albula Pass (attention: maximum width 2.30 m, maximum height 3.30 m between Bergün and Preda, weight limit 11 tons, winter closure approx. November − June). The Julier, Maloja and Bernina passes are usually also open in winter, the Flüelapass is closed in winter. A winter-safe connection is that Car loading through the Vereina tunnel between Monastery and Sagliains (near Susch). Costs for cars including passengers, depending on the season, CHF 31-42. Runs every 30 minutes, travel time 18 minutes (as of 2013).

Public transport is well developed in the Upper Engadine. Train and bus together form an efficient transport network with a regular timetable. Many hotels in the Upper Engadin offer packages that include the use of public transport in the region. The area of validity of this guest card covers the extensive area between Alp Grüm (at the Bernina Pass), Maloja and Brail (as of 2013). Almost all starting points for excursions in the region can be reached by public transport.
Tourist Attractions
- 1 Gothic church of St. Andrea, Chamues-ch, Via da la Baselgia 8. Mentioned for the first time around 1370, the oldest parts of the church are therefore still in the Romanesque architectural style. In 1470 it was rebuilt and enlarged in the Gothic style, followed by a second extension in 1505. The originally Romanesque tower was raised by two storeys and received its pointed helmet. Dea Murk's stained glass is from 1976. In the early 1980s, wall paintings were uncovered and restored.
- 2 Baroque church of La Punt. Built in 1680, relatively richly decorated inside and out for a reformed church. The nave has an octagonal floor plan. Because of its appearance, it is also called the Tyrolean Church.
- 3 Chesa Merleda (La Punt). Manor house, built for Ulrich Albertini from 1642 (on the Inn, near the bridge in La Punt).
- 4 Albertini house (La Punt). The semi-detached house at the beginning of the Albula pass road was built in the 17th century.
- 5 House Sandoz. imposing Engadine house, built from around 1600, expanded to a semi-detached house in 1693. In the middle of the house, the two arched gates to the Sulèr (anteroom inside the house) are close together (Via Cumünela, by the bridge over the Inn).
- 6 Chesa Pirani. Manor house built from 1750 in the center of La Punt.
- 7 House Serlas. Big one built in 1827 Maiensäss in the remote Val Chamuera.

The top-level 18-hole course between Celerina and Samedan is one of the oldest in Switzerland. The hilly and varied course was opened in 2003 and belongs to the same club as the one in Samedan. - The Rollerblade way from La Punt to S-chanf is also permitted for bicycles. The paths in the region allow extensive hikes and high mountain tours.
- At the Lejet da Saletschas 3 stands a Fireplace to disposal.
- 4 The Forest nature trail starts at the fork in the road in the Cuschinuns area. Numerous types of plants and trees are explained, picnic area with fountain and carved wooden figures, length 2.3 kilometers, height difference 100 m, not suitable for prams.
In the winter
- 5 Müsella children's ski lift, Seglias. T-bar lift on a gentle slope and an additional pony lift on the flat for the first attempts on skis.Open: 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.Price: children 20, teenagers 27, adults 32 francs (as of 2019).
In winter, La Punt Chamues-ch is a Cross-country paradise, and the blocked Albula pass road becomes Toboggan run. At the sports center (Via Cumünela 44) there is a Ice field (Curling, ice hockey). Numerous paths in the area are ideal for snowshoeing. Colani Sport rents out skis, snowshoes and sledges.
For Alpine skiers and snowboarders the family ski area in Zuoz the large ski area Corviglia / Piz Nair in St. Moritz is also accessible from Celerina, Corvatsch / Furtschellas can be reached from Surlej and Sils, smaller areas are Lagalb and Diavolezza at the Bernina Pass.
One reaches through the tunnel of the Albulabahn 1 Preda, the starting point of the 6 km long Toboggan run to Bergün (Bever − Bergün route not within the scope of the Upper Engadin public transport guest card).
For the intrepid: ride on the 1722 m long St. Moritz Olympic bobsleigh run 6 Olympic bobsleigh run, the only natural ice bobsled run in the world. Takes about 75 seconds, shortly before the finish, the four-man bobsleigh thunders through the ice channel with 135 things. You have to do that once in a lifetimesay the locals. The skeleton riders use the neighboring Cresta-Run.
