With the moor railway through the Ahlenmoor
  • Typical of the region are the three large brick churches that are known as Peasant domes are designated: St. Jacobi in Ludingworth, the St. Nicolai Church in Altenbruch and the Severikirche in Otterndorf. The construction of the churches was financed by the farmers, who were wealthy due to the particularly fertile soil and also organized in a self-governing class. The lavish carvings with which the interiors of the churches were decorated were also a sign of wealth.
