By plane
It is in Langenhagen Hanover Airport(IATA: HAJ). Politically it belongs to Hanover, but geographically it belongs to Langenhagen. From there you have Europe-wide connections for scheduled and holiday flights.
The airport can be reached with the S-Bahn without changing trains from the train stations Langenhagen-Mitte or Langenhagen-Pferdearkt.
By train
Two railway lines run through Langenhagen. Once the high-speed route Hanover, Celle, Uelzen, Hamburg and the long-distance Hanover, Walsrode, Soltau, Buchholz in the north heath. Langenhagen has three train stations: Langenhagen Mitte, Langenhagen horse market and Langenhagen Kaltenweide. Only regional trains stop at all three stations. Intercity trains or even ICE run through here.
Langenhagen center is a consequence of the Expo. The modern train station was created to give the S-Bahn a new stop. It is on the high-speed line to the north. In addition to the S-Bahn, the also stops here metronome and the Erixx. You can get to Hanover Central Station within 10 minutes from Langenhagen Mitte. But also to the north (Celle, Walsrode, Hamburg) you have a regular connection.
The second station is the old station of Langenhagen, Langenhagen horse market. It is located north of Langenhagen Mitte train station. It is a typical train station from the Wilhelminian era, but it has not been able to maintain its flair. The platforms are modern and as lifeless as at a stop. Not as many trains stop here as in Langenhagen Mitte. The metronome, for example, runs through here. Parking spaces are always in short supply at the Langenhagen horse market station. That's because a lot of vacationers spend the money on parking at Hanover Airport want to save, park here and then take the S-Bahn to the airport. The train station is not that easy to find. From Walsroder Straße, Bahnhofstraße leads to the train station, but you have to watch out for it, because it is only a side street. The east-west connection is called the horse market. If you are coming from the east you have to turn left before the railway bridge to find the train station.
The third station is the train station Langenhagen Kaltenweide. it was also built at the time of the Expo in Hanover. If it was still in an open area during the expo and you asked yourself "What is the station doing here?", It is now in the middle of the new "Weiherfeld" estate Kaltenweide. Only S-Bahn traffic is handled here. To the north it goes to Bennemühlen, to the south to Hanover main station.
In the street
The most important connection from Langenhagen to the German road network is without a doubt the A2 motorway. At the same time, it is essentially the dividing line between Hanover and Langenhagen. Langenhagen is to the north of the A2, only the Wiesenau district is to the south.
The second important street is Flughafenstrasse (B522). It branches off from the A2 at the Hannover / Langenhagen exit and heads northwest to the airport. You can also use it to reach the A352 to continue north towards Hamburg and Bremen or west towards Dortmund.
The most important street in north-south direction is the Walsroder Straße, which is short of in the north Kaltenweide ends and in the south after the A2 becomes Vahrenwalder Strasse, the most important access road in Hanover, seen from the north.
In the east-west direction, the most important street is Bothfelder Straße. Here you get to the city center and reach all important institutions. In the west it begins as Godhorner Straße, leads through the city center of Langenhagen and ends at the motorway exit Hannover-Bothfeld as Langenforther Straße.
