Run on the Pegnitz is a city in Middle Franconia, in the Middle Franconian part the Franconian Switzerland.

In 1806 Lauf became part of the new Kingdom of Bavaria. Lauf is the largest municipality and district seat of the district of Nürnberger Land, the hallmark of the Nürnberger Land is now LAU.
