background

The Greater Nuremberg in the center of Middle Franconia was formerly known as the city triangle of Nuremberg / Erlangen / Fürth. Today we often speak of the Nuremberg metropolitan region, but this goes from Franconian Lake District in the south to after Upper Franconia in the north and from Kitzingen in the west to after Willows in the Upper Palatinate in the East.

In Bavarian communities with predominantly members of the Catholic Church is according to the law Assumption Day (August 15) a public holiday. This applies to all municipalities in Old Bavaria and to around half of the Franconian municipalities. For planned activities and shopping, you should inquire beforehand whether there is a public holiday at the holiday destination.
