getting there

Lichtensteig has a train station and can be reached with the Voralpenexpress of the Südostbahn (SOB). It is located on the Romanshorn-St. Gallen-Herisau-Wattwil-Rapperswil-Lucerne and Wil-Wattwil-Nesslau. By car it is from the A1 motorway exit Wil SG just under 17 km to the historic town. Of St. Gallen Lichtensteig can be reached on the main road No. 8 via Herisau and the Wasserfluhpass. This route continues to Wattwil and over the Rickenpass into the Linth area or to the Lake Zurich. A road leads over from the St. Gallen Rhine Valley Wildhaus, Nesslau and Wattwil to Lichtensteig.
