Geographical notes
The territory of the region borders on Andorra to the southwest, la Spain (region Catalonia) to the south and the Mediterranean Sea (Gulf of Lion) to the south-east and with the following French regions: Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur East, Rhône-Alpes to the north-east, Auvergne to the north and Midi-Pyrenees West.
Languedoc-Roussillon is bordered by several geographical elements: the Pyrenees, the Lauragais threshold, the Cévennes chain and the Rhone river.
