The territory of the region bordered with that of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur south of the Languedoc-Roussillon south-west ofAuvergne to the west, of the Burgundy and of Franche-Comté to the north, as well as with the Switzerland to the north-east and with theItaly (Valle d'Aosta is Piedmont) East.
