Geographical notes

Malesco is the most populous village in Val Vigezzo located at the meeting of the routes that connect the Val d'Ossola, the Locarnese is Cannobio on the Lake Maggiore. The characterizing element of this town is the historic center which develops on a network of stone alleys surrounded by buildings also dry built with the typical stone roof of these valleys. The municipality of Malesco is also an access point to the Val Grande National Park, the wildest nature reserve in Europe, reachable through the Loana Valley.

When to go

Thanks to its sheltered position, it is suitable for both summer and winter stays. However, the mid-seasons should not be underestimated as they allow you to appreciate nature without too many tourists

Background

Malesco was already inhabited in pre-Roman times as evidenced by the archaeological finds kept in the Museum of the Val Grande National Park and the prehistoric boulder used for Celtic rites.
