Mariazell is a city in the north of the Styria, near the limit to Lower Austria and has about 2,000 inhabitants. Mariazell is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Central Europe and mainly attracts Catholics from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia. Pope John Paul II also visited Mariazell. The place combines a charming landscape with the typical atmosphere of a place of pilgrimage (souvenir kiosks, restaurants).
