Migjorn is the southernmost region on the island of Mallorca. It has numerous beaches and bays that invite you to swim and sunbathe. Therefore, many tourist centers have developed in the region. The places were partly built from scratch and are marked by building sins, as bad as this one Playa de Palma but it is not. In addition, the main source of income for the inhabitants of the Migjorn comes from agriculture. There are even still fishermen, but here, as in many other places, the Mediterranean is very empty.
In the meantime, the need for nature conservation has also been recognized and efforts are made to combat environmental sins. Many areas, especially on the coast, have been declared nature reserves. Some are even closed to private traffic. The ruins of the hotel on the am It Trenc. Here a court ruled that the building was unlawful, stopped the construction and ordered the demolition. Unfortunately, there is still no money for this today.
language
Like all over the island, the locals speak Mallorquí, a dialect of Catalan that is only very distantly related to the standard Spanish language. Mostly Spanish, English and German are spoken in the tourist centers. Off the beaten track, you are usually only understood if you speak Spanish, and even then you may not understand the answer given in dialect.

By car
The motorway runs from Palma de Mallorca MA-19 until just behind Llucmajor, then it becomes a federal highway MA-19, by Campos until after Santanyí leads. From Campos to Felanitx leads the MA-5020, from Santanyí to Felanitx the MA-14. This leads further north and you can Manacor to reach.
From Santanyí the MA-6102 to Cala Figuera and the MA-6100 to es llombards and on over Ses Salines to Colonia St. Jordi.

Migjorn has a well-developed bus network that is tailored to the needs of the residents. It is simply not assumed that tourists use public transport, but rather take guided trips by coach. If you really want to dare to explore Migjorn by bus, you should definitely get an up-to-date timetable for all bus lines and pay attention to the special features of the bus lines, because not every bus stops at every location. In addition, you have to be prepared for the fact that the buses are not air-conditioned.
For shorter distances you can also take a taxi, although these are not as expensive as in Germany, but something else is definitely inexpensive.
The road network in Migjorn is well developed and in fairly good condition. Many small towns are very narrow, but that can get a lot worse in other places on Mallorca. With a rental car you can explore the whole region in two days.
Tourist Attractions
- Santuari de Sant Salvador, at Felanitx. Fortress-like pilgrimage site and lookout point.
- Botanicactus, in Ses Salines. Garden with 12,000 different species of cactus.
- Cabrera center, in Colonia de Sant Jordi near Ses Salines. Visitor center in which the natural world of the national park on the island of Cabrera, south of Mallorca, is modeled. So you don't have to take the ship over to it, where you are not allowed to enter the biotopes anyway due to the strict protection regulations.
