Nowy Wiśnicz is a historical place in Poland in the voivodeship Lesser Poland. The place is east of Krakow in the Wiśnicz foothills of the Beskydy Mountains and is known for its Renaissance castle.

In the 12th century the place was mentioned as a monastery property and received city rights in 1616. He belonged successively to the magnate families Kmity and Lubomirski. After the First Partition of Poland in 1772, the place came successively to the Habsburgs and in 1867 to the K-and-K monarchy. After the First World War he became Polish again.

The castle was built after 1350 in the Gothic style. From 1516 Piotr Kmita had it expanded in the Renaissance style. Stanisław Lubormirski initiated the early Baroque renovation by Matteo Trapola from 1615 onwards. The castle was looted and damaged by the Swedes in 1655. From 1831 the castle was no longer inhabited and fell into disrepair. From 1928 the restoration was carried out by Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz. It is currently used as a museum.
