Nusfjord is a village of the Norway.
To know
Fishing village on the island Flakstadøy, one of the main islands of the Lofoten. The village belongs to the municipality Flakstad.
IS the oldest and best preserved fishing village in Norway. Thanks to its well-preserved historic buildings, the village is a major attraction for travelers.
Geographical notes
Nusfjord is located south of the island of Flakstadøy, in the Bottelvika fjord, which flows into the Vestfjord. Towards the countryside, the village is sharply bordered by steep mountains. The highest of the surrounding mountains is Tønsåsheia (769 m asl).
Background
As can be seen from the archaeological finds, the area of present-day Nusfjord has been inhabited since 400 AD. about. Finds from fishermen's huts from this period show that fishing was apparently already used for commercial purposes. In modern times, Nusfjord was owned by the Norwegian crown.

What to do
- Rent bicycles, motor boats, kayaks and fishing gear.
- From February to April, cod is caught, processed on site and dried on wooden racks on the outskirts of the village. In the summer, the finished stockfish is sold in Italy, Spain, Portugal is Africa.
