Oybin is a community in Zittau Mountainswhich is also valued as a health resort.
background
The climatic health resort Lückendorf, a district of Oybin, is the only German place on the south side of the Zittau Mountains. One of the oldest trade routes in Europe, the old Gabler Strasse, a salt route, plays an important role in the history of the place.
The district Oybin health resort is also interesting for those looking for peace and quiet.

By plane
Next airport is Dresden, located about 100 km northwest.
By train
By train to Zittau. Of Dresden, cottbus, Gorlitz and Liberec there are regional train connections to Zittau.
From Zittau you can then take the steam-powered one Narrow gauge railway to Oybin.
In the street
Arrival by car is via the A4 motorway. At the junction Bautzen-East you drive over on the developed road Löbau to Zittau. From there, follow the signs for "Zittauer Gebirge".
mobility
The best way to get around town is on foot. The neighboring towns can also be reached on shoemaker's pony. The narrow-gauge railway not only goes to Zittau, but also to the neighboring health resort Jonsdorf. There are also buses to all of the nearby places and to the high forest.
Tourist Attractions
Oybin is located in a basin surrounded by numerous wooded mountain peaks, such as the Ant hill, the High forest and the potter. All of them can be reached on hiking trails that are not too difficult and offer fantastic views of Oybin. There is also the Mount Oybinwhich is actually a sandstone bell.

The Monastery ruin consists of an atmospheric Gothic church and the monastery buildings that were built into the mountain. Caspar David Friedrich and other painters have made the ruin an icon of Romanticism.
- On the way to the mountain top lies the 2 Oybiner mountain church
which is also worth a visit.

In addition to cycling, hiking and Nordic walking, you can go cross-country skiing in the area in the winter season. The Zittau Mountains are particularly popular with older people and newcomers to hikers because of the inclines that are sometimes not so strenuous and yet the wonderful views.
