The Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park is a natural park located west of Tokyo at Japan. It is very popular with Tokyoites who want to get some air on the weekend since it is located less than 100 km.
Understand
The park is made up of three areas:
- the Lakes region, with the Mount Fuji and its five lakes, the Fujigoko,
- a little further south, the mountainous and volcanic region ofHakone,
- even further south, the Izu peninsula with the towns ofAtami, of Shimoda and of Shuzenji.
The park falls under the two prefectures of Kanagawa and Shizuoka.
The small Izu Islands, scattered across the Pacific Ocean, (from Ōshima (108 km) in Aogashima (354 km)), come under the Tokyo prefecture.
