Paros (Paros) it's an island Greek of the archipelago of Cyclades.

To know

The island is touristy but offers quiet corners and from the natural point of view splendid. The capital of the island is 'Parikia', also indicated on some maps as "Paros" or "Paros town", is full of shops, clothing to souvenirs, from restaurants and clubs. The island is a surfer's paradise, obviously the capital is full of shops dedicated to fashion from the beachThe maximum altitude is 724 m a.s.l.

  • Lefkès - Inside.
  • Marpissa - A village on the east coast with many beaches in its surroundings where wind surfing fans gather every summer. Those with hotels are: Pisso Livadi, Logaras, Chrissi Akti (Golden Beach), Tsardakia, Drios.
  • 1 Naousa - A small fishing port located in a bay on the north coast. Kolimbithres, Santa Maria, Ambelas are the names of the nearby beaches.
  • 2 Paroikia - The capital of the island. It looks a bit scruffy and also a bit chaotic in the harbor area but you just need to get out of it to find nice beaches. To the north lies Livadia while in a southerly direction, along the road towards the airport we meet the beaches of Aghia Irini.

Below are the main beaches of the island:

  • Ambelas (Αμπελας) - In the small fishing village of Ambelas, a few kilometers from Naoussa, there are three small beaches. The first is found in the port of Ambelas, which is on the right as you reach the sea between two headlands that form a sheltered bay where fishermen moor their boats. Later left the coast road you will find another small beach on the stairs below thalassodentro, and if crowds are not your forte, just beyond the beach of Aspro Cliffs enjoy the calm crystal clear shallow blue waters of the sea. The rich seabed is ideal for snorkeling.
  • Antiparos - A very fashionable islet in the past among naturism lovers.
  • Fàrangas (Φάραγγας) - A beach with some infrastructure that can be reached from Alikì via paths that branch off from the main road.
  • Kalogeros (Καλόγεροs) - Alongside Molos with a large rock from where a monk threw himself into the sea, killing himself, hence the name. (Calogero in Greek means monk).
  • Molos (Μώλος) - A beach behind which there are some ruins that according to some belong to the ancient city of Iria (Υρία). Near Molos are the coasts of Tsoukalià and Glyfàdes where windsurfing fans gather every year.

What see

  • Ecclesiastical-Byzantine Museum (Ekklisiastikò Vizantinò Musìo), Parikia. A small collection of icons and other ecclesiastical relics including carved wooden objects and some silver work.
  • In Naoussa and its surroundings there are 6 small monasteries of which the most important is that of Longovarda
  • South of Naousa, in Protoria, there is a ruined church from which the mosaics were removed to take them to the small local museum, housed in the 17th century church of Aghiou Atanasio
  • In Parikia the cathedral of a hundred doors is one of the oldest and most famous Byzantine churches, founded by Saint Helen around 325 AD.
