Pathein(Burmese: ပုသိမ်မြို့, IPA: [pəθèiɴ mjo̰]) (also Bassein) is the capital city of Ayeyarwady region in Myanmar.

The most common way to get there is from Yangon from about 70 kilometers away Nyaungdon (Yandoon). A ride from Pyay off is possible, but extremely cumbersome and not recommended.
