It is one of the most recent and modern works of the fortified belt of Cork at the dawn of World War II. The Germans never succeeded in making it surrender by force. The chapel was built in 1895 to house the Christ of Tancrémont discovered buried, in an excellent state of conservation, in a field of Tancrémont by a peasant in 1830. This one is a glorious Christ, high of1.4 meter, carved in linden wood while the cross which supports it is high 2 meters, wide of1.8 meter and is carved from oak. The whole, probably of Byzantine origin, dates from IXe century (between 810 and 965). In the garden, to the left of the sanctuary, a Stations of the Cross has been created.
