Sprimont is a municipality of Belgium located in Wallonia in the province of Liège and forming part of the tourist region "Ourthe-Vesdre-Amblève ».
Understand
The town occupies the majority of the plateau located in Condroz oriental between the valleys of Vesdre (north), Ourthe (west), Amblève (south) and Hoëgne (east). This Condrusian relief is made up of ridges called stems (presence of water towers) and hollows called chavées always oriented west-east.
To the north-east of the town is the Vallon des Chantoirs which is part of the limestone region of de la Calestienne. The hamlets of Adzeux and Hotchamps are part of it.
Sprimont even has a small part of its territory in the Ardennes. These are the woods located to the east of Adzeux. The site of the Apparitions de Banneux is also on the edge of the Ardennes.

Story
The town is known for its stone extraction and cutting industry ("blue stone" or "small granite"). The testimony of this industrial activity can still be seen at the Stone Museum, housed in the old power station of the Sprimont quarries.
On the right bank of the Amblève valley is the site of Belle-Roche, a fossil cave and the oldest known place of human occupation in the Benelux (around 500,000 years old). Specialists from the University of Liège have listed more than 30,000 fossils which correspond to more than 50 distinct species of mammals. In addition, tools, mainly in flint, testify to a human presence.
From the Middle Ages, the seigneury of Sprimont was one of the 7 seigneuries beyond the Woods, under the Duchy of Limbourg, an enclave in the Principality of Liège.
The battle of Sprimont took place on . It opposed the French republican troops to the Austrian imperial troops. It consecrated the occupation of the territory of present-day Belgium by the French Republic. The coast of La Redoute owes its name to it.
the , the 73rd and 74th RI of the imperial German army crossed forty civilians by the arms and destroyed sixty houses in Lincé, during the German Atrocities committed at the beginning of the invasion.

- 3 Banneux (Banneux Notre-Dame) – Banneux is a place of Marian pilgrimage with a so-called miraculous water source. The Virgin would have appeared there eight times at the place of the current 4 Chapel of the Apparitions (inaugurated on Assumption Day 1933) to Mariette Beco, then aged 12, between January 15 and as she looked out of her window 5 House . During the apparition of January 18, the "beautiful radiant lady" leads Mariette to a place by the side of the road, and invites her to dig the ground with her hands, which has the effect of making the 6 miraculous source . The "reality of the facts" was officially recognized by the Catholic Church in 1952 and the monumental complex of the "Source" was inaugurated in 1958. Currently, the sanctuary also has a hospice for sick pilgrims (Hospitality Banneux Notre-Dame) with 300 beds. During the pilgrimage season between May and October, there are daily blessings from the sick and several masses for pilgrims as well as organized activities for children and young people. The site is visited annually by around 700,000 visitors or pilgrims, some 10,000 of whom are sick. Every August 15 is also the occasion of a great pilgrimage for the Roma.
