The Pfinztal community was created in 1974 through the merger of the formerly independent communities Berghausen, Kleinsteinbach, Söllingen in the valley of the Pfinz and Woeschbach in the Wöschbach valley. It is located on the eastern outskirts of Karlsruhe in the southwest of Kraichgau.

Berghausen, the largest town in Pfinztal, is on the railway line from Karlsruhe to Pforzheimwho have favourited trains on the line S5 of Karlsruhe Transport Association stop at the train station and at the Pfinzbrücke stop. The line too S4, which from Karlsruhe to Eppingen and Heilbronn drives, has a stop in Berghausen-Hummelberg.
