Picherande is a village located in the department of Puy de Dome, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in France.

Understand

South of the Sancy massif, the town of Picherande is located in the immediate vicinity of the ski resorts of Super-Besse and Mont-Dore as well as Chastreix. In the south-west of the Puy-de-Dôme department, it is on the border with Artense.

This municipality is a member of the community of municipalities of the Massif du Sancy, where its head office is located in Mont-Dore.

The departmental road 203 is the main departmental road crossing Picherande. The other roads are not always cleared of snow in winter, in particular the RD 149 leading to the Col de la Geneste and Super-Besse.

Not far from the town is the Chastreix-Sancy nature reserve. Created in 2007, its access is subject to significant restrictions, such as the prohibition of animals or mountain bikes responsible for the degradation of the roads.
