Pomeranian (Pomorze from "po-morze" meaning "near the sea") is a historical and geographical region located in the north of Poland and of Germany on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea.

Geographical notes

Geographically it is located in the north of Poland and the Germany on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea between and beyond the Vistula and Oder rivers to the Recknitz rivers in the west and Noteć (Netze in German) in the south.

Background

Over the last few centuries it has been an important province of the kingdom of Prussia first and then of imperial Germany; mainly inhabited by Germans until 1945, after the defeat of the Reich in the Second World War its eastern part was annexed to the new Polish state; its original inhabitants almost all emigrated to Germany.

  • Toruń - It is considered one of the most pleasant cities in the country whose historic center is the heritage ofUNESCO.
