Poncione di Ganna is a 993 m high mountain in the Varese Pre-Alps. It is a very characteristic peak, with an easily recognizable "horn" appearance.

Presence of wild boars and wild animals following a repopulation that took place in the past decades.
When to go
The particularly cold winter months are perhaps the least suitable for climbing to the top. The classic ascension has as its starting point the German Alpe (hamlet of Cuasso al Monte), from which an easy path forks under the summit in a steep itinerary, with some rocks (I degree - T3), and in a more simple and gradual (T2). A third path, with the same starting point, instead takes full advantage of the north-west ridge with several partially exposed climbing passages (II-III degree - T4) and is reserved for expert hikers.
Background
On its panoramic summit, which overlooks the Valganna, a cross built in 1914, 7 meters high to touch the 1,000 meters of altitude of the mountain, was placed on 4 April 1954.

By car from Varese follow the ss233 Varesina direction Not him-Lavena Ponte Tresa. When you reach the hamlet of Ganna in Valganna, follow the sp29 towards Alpe Tedesco, a hamlet of Cuasso al Monte. On foot, from the Passo del Vescovo path.
From Switzerland follow the ss233 Varesina towards Varese.
