By train
The city of Luino can be reached by train from Milan on the Milano - Gallarate - Laveno - Luino line, as well as the connection between Novara via Luino and Sesto. From Ticino, Luino can be reached from Bellinzona via Cadenazzo. Luino through station, opened in 1882, has four Tracks for passenger traffic, of which only tracks 1 and 2 are normally used. Passenger traffic is covered by the S30 line of the so-called "Ticino S-Bahn", which runs every hour in the direction of Gallarate and every two hours in the direction of Bellinzona.

In terms of crime the usual safety rules must be observed as everywhere: Caution helps to avoid dangerous situations. Do not walk alone through empty streets at night, avoid dark alleys, and do not unnecessarily display watches, jewelry and expensive cell phones or cameras.
Northern Italy and Luino are very safe. In addition to the Polizia del stato and Carabinieri, the Polizia Locale (something like the city police) ensures order. Anyone who receives instructions here as a tourist should not argue, even if the locals occasionally like to do so. The officers can react very "sensitively".
