Qamdo Prefecture (昌都 地区, Chāngdū Dìqū or Chamdo) is a prefecture Chinese of the Tibet in the province of Southwest China.

Urban centers

  • Chamdo (昌都 鎮; Chāngdū Zhèn or Qamdo) - Capital of the prefecture.
  • Baxoi County (八宿 县; Bāsù Xiàn or Pashoe) - The county is located on the upper reaches of the Salween.
  • County of Dêngqên (丁 青县; Dīngqīng Xiàn) - On the border with Qinghai.
  • Markam County (芒康 县; Mángkāng Xiàn) - Near the border with Sichuan.
  • Riwoqê County (類烏齊 縣; Lèiwūqí Xiàn or Riwoche) - Riwoche Monastery became the seat of Taklung Kagyu, one of the four main schools of the Kagyu sect.
  • County of Sog (索 县; Suǒ Xiàn) - Contains the Tsangdain Monastery built in 1667.
