Premana is a municipality of the Lombardy.
To know
The village is linked to the tradition of iron working and is home to the namesake Premana scissors and cutting items district.
Geographical notes
Premana is located in Valvarrone on the slopes of the mountains Legnone (2,610 m) and High Lace (2,518 m) in the Orobic Alps between the Valsassina and the Valtellina.

By car
From Lecco it is possible to travel the entire Valsassina up to Premana, otherwise it is possible to take the highway that runs along the lake up to Bellano and then follow the signs for Premana.
On the train
From Milan and from Lecco you can take the train to Bellano.
By bus
From the station of Bellano buses depart with Premana terminus.

free. It contains a large collection of artifacts divided into three rooms. They retrace the stages of iron extraction, from its discovery in our mountains by the Celts. Until the current production of cutting items, passing through the period of the Grand Duchy of Milan in which our iron was used for the armory industry and civil and military architecture. - 3 Old Town. The town was built as early as the fourth century as a bulwark village. The houses in the historic center still show that they were built so that the outer walls acted as a defensive wall. The village was then closed by doors and in case of danger people did not walk the streets but in the passages between the houses and on the overpasses between one district and another. Signs of this defense architecture are still clearly visible today in the historic center behind the church which was originally a watchtower.

Every year the traditional “Past” celebrations are re-proposed with lunch in company based on vegetable soup and boiled meat, accompanied by music, joy and good wine that are organized in turn on the pastures of Premana.

What to do
There are many hiking trails. All mountains that can be reached within a day, do not present great difficulties but must be faced with caution and with suitable clothing.
