Nature

The Montsià region offers a geography of contrasts. On the one hand, its main tourist asset is in the municipalities of d'Amposta [1] and Sant Jaume d'Enveja [2] where the Delta de l'Ebre Natural Park is located, the largest wetland in Catalonia, with an area of 320 km².

The Ebro Delta offers a wide range of possibilities for tourists: easy bike rides in the heart of the Delta (there are bike lanes), a new tourist asset such as bird watching, a visit to the traditional rafts of the Encanyissada and the Tancada, enjoy endless beaches without crowds, adventure sports such as kitesurfing, or quiet activities such as fishing.

But if you really want to enjoy nature, you must visit the Ports Natural Park, from Montsià you can enter it through the municipalities of La Sénia and Mas de Barberans. The Ports are a set of rocky massifs with a complex relief, between the Mediterranean mountain range and the Iberian mountain range. Human beings have traditionally found in the Ports a source of natural resources to survive and for their interests. They are part of the landscape with subtle historical touches such as farmhouses, calcium kilns, snow pits, charcoal pits, dry stone margins and stone lanes.

The Ports Natural Park has leisure areas; These areas are, in addition to a place for rest and entertainment, the starting point for family routes such as those of La Vall or those of La Fou and for the most intrepid hikers: long-distance hiking (GR) through the Natural Park of Los Ports.

The sea and coast, are also represented in the Montsià. The municipalities that enjoy these landscapes are Sant Carles de la Ràpita and Alcanar. Towns with a seafaring tradition with fishermen's brotherhoods where we can enjoy the typical fish auctions in the very llotja (open building in a traditional Gothic style). You can have a unique photographic moment before 17:00, observing the fishing boats returning to the port. In addition to the sun and the beach that you find in these places, you can do activities related to nature and gastronomy, such as the mussel and oyster tour or take a boat ride driving ourselves.
