Bicycle paths in Hungary

Hungary The cycle path network is still under construction. Cyclists only have a 2% share in total traffic. Public transport, on the other hand, has one of the highest proportions in Europe (approx. 50%), which is also clearly at the expense of car traffic.

Travel time

The best time to cycle in Hungary is from spring to autumn, around April to the end of September. Since it can get quite hot in the country in the summer months, certain cycle paths should be approached carefully beforehand. Country roads and off-road drives can be long and there may be little protection from the heat.

getting there

Entering or leaving the EU border crossings by bike is not a problem, only police checks can sometimes still take place.
