Budapest-Vienna route - Budapest-Wien-Route

Route description with sights

Stage 1: Budapest - Szentendre approx. 13 km

Stage 3: Visegrád - Pilismarót - Esztergom approx. 25 km

Stage 4: Esztergom - Tát - Lábatlan - Almásfüzitő - Komárom approx. 53 km

This time the route to Komárom is about 53 km long. Starting in Esztergom, the route continues west towards the municipality of Tát, a 2nd order trunk road is used. As far as Lábatlan (in German: Labeland) the trunk road can still be used or a paved bike path is taken parallel to it. From the town of Lábatlan, the 2nd order trunk road is to be taken to Almásfüzitő, from here the route to Komárom can be used on a paved cycle path.

Stage 5: Komárom - Ács - Nagyszentjános - Bana - Győr approx. 50 km

After a relaxing stay in Komárom, the way is clear for the next stage. This time, the bikes will be used for a longer period of time, so the bikes should be checked for their driving ability. Directions:

  1. from Komárom: take the asphalt bike path west to Koppánymonostor.
  2. continue towards Kisherkály.
  3. from here to the city of Ács.
  4. Take the cycle path on the connecting road west to Ernőmajor.
  5. continue to Nagyszentjános.
  6. Turn left here towards the south and drive to Bana.
  7. On the same connecting road, turn west to the right in the direction of the city of Bőny and cycle to Győr.
  8. Alternative route, from Ács towards Bábolna, from here then westwards towards Bana and Gyor.

Stage 6: Győr - Nagybajcs - Ásványráró - Lipót - Kisbodak - Dunakiliti approx. 53 km

From Győr it goes north on a connecting road with a cycle path in the direction of the municipalities of Kisbajcs and on to Nagybajcs. From here the cycle path then leads northwest to Dunasziget. The route that should be taken is a dirt road on the dike and also offers a lot to see for cyclists, because a tributary of the Danube flows here for several kilometers next to the bike route. The landscape in this area is remarkable. While driving to the city of Dunasziget, the cycle path first leads past Ásványráró via Lipót and Kisbodak. From Dunasziget the cycle path then continues on a connecting road to Dunakiliti.

Stage 7: Dunakiliti - Rajka - Rusovce - Bratislava - Hainburg an der Donau approx. 51 km

The cycle path to Rajka can be used on the connecting road. If you turn right, you have to take an approximately 5 km long through road north to Dunacsún. From here the dirt road on the dike is passable, after the municipality of Rusovce you can reach Bratislava in no time. The path in the field changes to a paved bike path and leads to Hainburg on the Danube.

Stage 8: Hainburg a. d. D. - Stopfenreuth - Orth an der Donau - Vienna approx. 45 km

The last stage of the tour is the easiest to drive, the path is paved and leads to Vienna. From Hainburg a. d. D. is first to drive over the nearby Danube bridge, past Stopfenreuth further west towards Orth an der Donau and then to Vienna. In Vienna he can Donauauen National Park can be visited.
