Visegrád (German Plintenburg). The city is located in the county pest north about 40 kilometers from Budapest away. Visegrád and its surroundings were already settled in the Bronze Age, and the area was considered militarily important in Roman times. Between the 10th and 17th centuries, the village was attacked by Turks and Mongols. Today the popular Visegrád belongs to the Szentendre small area.

By train or plane is first Budapest the goal is to change from there to onward train or bus connections to Visegrád. A rental car from Budapest can also be used.   • The Visegrád Castle, originally built around the year 1250, for a long time militarily significant; Once upon a time, Hungary's Holy Crown of St. Stephen was kept here.   • The royal castle built by King Charles I Robert in 1323. The castle was rebuilt thanks to renovation and can be visited in the town of Visegrád.

  • The Sibrik hill, here the traces of the Roman legionaries can be seen who crossed the border around 320 AD Pannonia protected. Around the year 1000-1010 the first church building in Visegrád was built in the immediate vicinity, which was later destroyed by Tatar attacks. In 1970 the remains of the building were rediscovered through excavations.
