Schärding is a city in Upper Austria.
background
As a baroque city on Inn well-known district town of the district of the same name is opposite Neuhaus am Inn on the right bank of the Inn about 15 km south of the three-river city Passau. With the Peace of Teschen she came from the electorate in 1779 Bavaria (Kurpfalzbaiern) together with the Innviertel to Austria, where she stayed with brief interruptions.

The Munich Airport(IATA: MUC) (Travel time on the autobahn approx. 90 minutes) and the Linz Airport
(IATA: LNZ) are easily accessible by car, bus and train. Munich has a lot more connections, Linz is a little closer.
By train
The nearest long-distance train station is Passau Central Station. The Schärding station can be reached with the regional express, which runs between Linz and Passau is wrong. Another rail connection exists to Ried im Innkreis.

Passau is easily accessible by ship. The earlier important shipping on the Inn has not taken place since the age of the railways.

The small old town can easily be tackled on foot. Parking possibilities o.a. at the upper town square and at the Silberzeile.

The surrounding area with the southern foothills of the Bohemian mass with the Bohemian forest and the Bavarian forest offers a wide range of excursion and sightseeing opportunities on both the Upper Austrian and Lower Bavarian sides:
