The Linz Airport is the largest commercial airport in Upper Austria and in addition to the airports Vienna-Schwechat, Klagenfurt, Graz, Salzburg and Innsbruck one of six international airports in Austria. It was opened in 1955 and is located 12 km south of the city Linz. It is an airport for passenger and freight traffic.

The airport is mainly served by short and medium-haul flights to other European countries as well as to North Africa and Turkey. Intercontinental flights take place from Vienna International Airport. In addition to air traffic, the airport has its own flight school.
