The city of Rauenberg is located with the main town Rauenberg and its two districts Rotenberg and Malschenberg on the edge of the Upper Rhine Plain towards the Kraichgau. Neighboring communities are Wiesloch, Dielheim, Mulhouse, Malsch and St. Leon-Rot.

Rauenberg has no direct connection to the rail network, the next train stations are in Wiesloch and in Bad Schönborn.

Viticulture is an important branch of the economy in Rauenberg. Therefore there is a festival in every district that refers to it:

  • in Malschenberg is this Portuguese Festival always on the 2nd weekend in September. This includes the choice of the Porugies Queen, a pageant and a final fireworks display.
  • in Rauenberg there is a big wine festival with a pageant called Vintners' kerwe. It's the 2nd weekend in October.
  • in Rotenberg is Martinikerwe on the weekend before Martini (11.11.), also with a move.
