The Gisborne region is in the northeast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located in the east of the New Zealand peninsula and borders the region in the northwest Bay of Plenty and in the southwest Hawke’s Bay.

The Gisborne region has only one district of the same name, hence it is also called Unitary Authority designated. Main place is 1 Gisborne City. She will also work with the district Opotiki as Eastland designated.
