Royat is a town located in the department of Puy de Dome, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Understand
West of Clermont-Ferrand, Royat is located on the foothills of the granite plateau of the chain of volcanic hills, on the Limagne fault.
Created by the dismemberment of the municipality of Chamalières in 1829, Royat was best known for its thermal activity.

- Since Lyon : highway A89 then Clermont-Ferrand expressways; at the avenue de Fontmaure in Chamalières, take the direction of Royat allowing an arrival by the avenue of the same name.
- Since Clermont-Ferrand : from Place de Jaude, straight on rue Blatin then avenue de Royat.
- From the south of Clermont-Ferrand by the D 2089 (from Bordeaux or Tulle):
- highway A89, exit 25, then RD 2089; pass through Ceyrat then take the D 944,

- From the south of Clermont-Ferrand (coming from Issoire): continue fromA75 towards theA71, then exit 15

By car
The roads of the town are sloping. What is the speed limit 50 km / h but sometimes it is impossible to reach this speed because of the bends.
Place Allard was until 2013 a dangerous crossroads; it has become a roundabout. But you still have to be careful, especially when a bus from line B maneuvers to turn around when it arrives at its terminus.
Access to Vieux Royat via the D 5 roadE by avenue Jean-Jaurès (ending on rue Nationale) or by rue Victoria by avenue de la Vallée.
The Puy-de-Dôme department has set up a carpooling area near the Pépinière bus stop.

By public transport
- T2C of 5 h 30 - 23 h 30. 1,6 € the journey, subscription possible. – Urban transport in the Clermont-Ferrand area serves the town of Royat, with three lines: line B, going up to Place Allard (serving the thermal baths - a bus every 08 min during rush hour), line 5 serving the city center to the Pépinière and line 26 leading to Ceyrat (during rush hour).
By bike
Given the relief, cycling in the town is difficult. Place Allard is approximately 450 m altitude, the city center at 510 m, Nursery at 550 m, Charade to 840 m. It should therefore be reserved for courageous cyclists.
The bicycle rental service is not available in the town of Royat.

- 1 Washer Cave (by avenue de la Vallée) – Ancient Celtic place where the church was built on top.
- 2 Romanesque church of Saint-Léger place Jean Cohendy – Fortified Church of the XIe century, historical monument since 1862.

- 4 Roundabout of the Nursery – At the crossroads of departmental roads 5E and 68, at the western end of line 5 of urban transport (served every day), is erected a fountain, another gateway to the town.
