the Western Sahara is a non-self-governing territory (according to the UN) ofNorth Africa enter here Mauritania and the Morocco. Its sovereignty is claimed both by Morocco - which calls it "Moroccan Sahara" - and by the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), but most of the territory is under Moroccan control.
![]() | This guide deals with the part administered by the Polisario Front. This purely practical distinction is due to the fact that the travel conditions are different in the regions administered by Morocco and in that administered by the Polisario Front. The content of this guide can in no way be considered as political support for one of the parties to the conflict relating to the sovereignty of this territory. |

Ramadan date
Majority of Muslims insist on local sighting of the crescent moon to mark the start of Ramadan, but others insist on calculating the new moon or declaring it saudi to determine the start of the month. Since the first crescent after the new moon is not visible everywhere at the same time, the start and end dates of the month depend on what is visible in each location. Therefore, the dates vary from country to country, but usually only one day. |
