Savines-le-Lac is a village located in the department of High mountains, in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, in the South-East of France.
Understand
The town is located more than 25 kilometers from Gap, in the peripheral area of the Ecrins national park.
For the construction needs of the Serre-Ponçon dam, the former commune of Savines was destroyed in 1961. A new village was built and is now called Savines-le-Lac.
The village is labeled Green Station.

By car
The village is accessible by the national road 94, connecting Gap in Embrun and Briançon.
From Paris, take the A6, A43, A48 motorways to Grenoble, then the national road 85 to Gap.
From Lyon, take the A43 and A48 motorways to Grenoble, then the national road 85 to Gap, or the A7 to Valence-Sud, then direction Gap.
From Marseille, take the A51 motorway until its provisional end at La Saulce, then follow the direction of Briançon on the national 85, then the departmental 942 and the national 94.
By coach
- PACA Regional Express Lines (LER PACA) – Line 29 (Gap - Briançon) serves the village with two stopping points: SNCF station and Village. Correspondence at Gap for Marseille.
By train
The line from Veynes to Briançon passes on the opposite bank of the village. There was a station, but it is closed to the passenger service; the closest open is in Chorges or Embrun (served by TER PACA or the night train).

- 1 Serre-Ponçon lake – One of the largest artificial lakes in Europe. The lake stretches fromEmbrun at the dam (in the town of Rousset), put in water in 1960.
- 2 Savines Bridge (direction Gap or the city center depending on the shore) – Crossed by the national road 94, the bridge of Savines constitutes the obligatory point of passage to connect Gap to the east of the department of Hautes-Alpes (the village, and beyond towards Embrun).
