What see

  • 1 Duomo. The cathedral of Schio rises on the top of the Gorzone hill, a small rocky spur, the last stretch of the tongue of land that wedges into the city center, also forming the offshoots of the castle and Capuchin hill.
The current appearance of the cathedral, with its neoclassical forms, is the result of numerous interventions carried out between 1747 and 1879. In fact, in the 18th century the community decided to totally rebuild the church. The first intervention in this sense was the construction of the new central nave, based on a project by Giovanni Miazzi; in 1770 the hanging apse and sacristy were built on designs by Don Domenico Cerato. In 1820 Antonio Diedo designed the new facade of the church by adding the classic pronaos and the pair of bell towers.
