Today's North and South Schleswig with multilingual place names
Schleswig (in Danish Slesvig or South Jutland) is a historical region on the Cimbrian Peninsula, on the border between Germany and Denmark. For the purposes of this travel guide, it is divided into the following travel regions:
- South Jutland corresponds essentially to the Danish northern part of Schleswig with the main town Åbenrå
- North Frisia, the west of the German southern Schleswig, on the North Sea coast, including the North Frisian Islands and the peninsula Eiderstedt
- Baltic Sea coast (South Schleswig), the eastern part of southern Schleswig, with the peninsulas fishing, Swans and Danish charity, as well as the largest city in the region, Flensburg
