The small town Schwarzheide is located on the Black Elster in the south of the state Brandenburg. It was created in connection with the construction of a brown coal synthesis plant on October 1, 1936 through the merger of two villages.

By train
If you want to travel by train, use the RB 49 line Falkenberg (Elster)–Bad Liebenwerda–Lauchhammer–Ruhland–Schwarzheide-Ost–Senftenberg–Drebkau–cottbus.
In the street
Schwarzheide is via the A 13 Berlin–Dresden reachable. The actual city cannot be reached directly via the exit 
16 Schwarzheide - this exit is primarily used to reach the BASF synthesis plant - but the exit 17 Ruhland. In addition, the B 169 runs between Elsterwerda in the west and Senftenberg in the northeast as the "Lower Lusatia route".

Tourist Attractions
The landmark of Schwarzhheide is the 36 m high Water tower, which was originally planned as a town hall tower. In Schwarzhheide-West there is a half-timbered building Luther Church from the years 1754 to 55.
Also worth seeing is the cemetery wall in Schwarzheide-West, right on Ruhlander Straße. There are 10 large boards on it that provide information about the history of the city, from 1449 to the founding of the city in 1967.
The Schwarzheide cultural and homeland association is located in Dorfaue 3, right next to the Luther Church. The house was built in 1859 as a one-class school. The association shows a permanent exhibition on the history of the city of Schwarzheide, as well as changing exhibitions on interesting topics.
